Trainee Geotechnical Technician – Washington, UK
No experience is required, and full training will be given. Suitable candidates will have an interest in a career working in a soil laboratory environment.
Key roles and responsibilities
* Perform a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest safety and quality standards.
* Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
* Assist in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
* Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
* Ensure the quality of work produced is to high standards and tested in a timely manner.
* Handle sample receipt, storage and disposal.
Required experience and qualifications
* 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
* Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
* A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
* Good IT skills, especially the use of MS Excel.
There will be lots of manual handling involved in the role and will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis.
