Overview

This post will work across the area of UK Marketing and recruitment and is integral to University aims to increase student recruitment from Wales. It will report directly to the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To contribute to the development of a regional recruitment plan for South Wales with the support of the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.
2. To identify and build relationships with key feeder schools and colleges and deliver a programme of creative and innovative engagement.
3. Make use of all available data (both internally and externally) to identify and target top feeder schools across Wales, according to counties and subject areas.
4. To develop engaging sessions which can be delivered face to face and/or online which promote the University and are also of practical value to schools and students.
5. To develop the necessary knowledge to provide specialist advice to students, parents and advisors.
6. To attend higher education fairs as assigned (both within South Wales and further afield).
7. To work with regional partners such as Careers Wales, Rhwydwaith Seren/Seren Network and Reaching Wider, to develop and support school engagement activities.
8. To develop and expand events and activities aimed at schools and colleges (both on-campus and off-site, such as HE Conferences at FE campuses).
9. To ensure that Welsh-medium provision and opportunities are embedded in the activities aimed at schools and colleges in Wales.
10. Work with colleagues in College Marketing Teams and Alumni Relations to identify staff, current student and regional alumni who may be able to support regional recruitment. Work with them to identify opportunities including face to face delivery, content profiles etc.
11. Put in place systems to capture enquirer data and to evaluate all engagements.
12. To provide regular reports on engagement and impact and assessment of effectiveness.
13. To identify, propose and develop other regional promotional opportunities, thinking outside of the norm.
14. To network across the HE sector to ensure awareness of competitor behaviour and to respond accordingly.
15. To support the Clearing process as part of the wider recruitment team.
16. Provide cross-section support on events and activities in relation to UK recruitment and widening participation, including attending open and offer holder days, widening access events, UCAS fairs and delivering presentations where required. This will involve staying away from home and will involve working some evenings and weekends.
17. To undertake such other duties, commensurate with the grading of the post that me be assigned by the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

18. The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

20. Qualifications/Training

Essential

22. Degree or equivalent or significant relevant experience.

Desirable

23. Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience/Knowledge

24. Experience of student recruitment in Higher Education.
25. Experience of working in a customer service environment.
26. Considerable experience of organising and delivering customer facing.
27. Experience of working with schools or colleges.
28. Experience of developing plans and delivering them effectively.
29. Experience of setting and delivering targets.
30. Experience of reporting on impact.
31. An understanding of current issues surrounding UK undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment with particular reference to Wales.

Desirable

32. Previous experience of working in higher education.
33. Experience and knowledge of the UCAS admissions process.
34. Experience of organising student recruitment events Previous experience of developing relationships with external partners, preferably in the FE sector.

46. The ability to speak and write Welsh fluently in a wide variety of situations is essential for this post.
