We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team.
HMP Lewes is a category B male prison located near the center of the historic town of Lewes, just a 5-minute walk away.
Due to HMP Lewes holding remand prisoners, staff are required to work on a rota basis, including nights, bank holidays, and weekends. If you are seeking flexibility, this can be discussed during the interview process.
Hours
The role involves working across 7 days, totaling 37.5 hours per week, likely including 1 weekend per month.
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of up to £43,534 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Requirements
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main Duties
* Conduct comprehensive assessments within a multidisciplinary team, develop and review care plans, and explore treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds and assess and treat patients who may have experienced trauma and distress
* Assess health needs using evidence-based frameworks and perform risk assessments with sound clinical judgment
* Provide advice, support, and information to individuals, managing a caseload of patients
* Deliver non-judgmental care that makes a real difference
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and liaise with prescribers regarding side effects
* Build strong links with partners and stakeholders to promote excellence
* Ensure best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence-based care
* Share knowledge and support team development to ensure safe care

Qualifications
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience working face-to-face with patients with complex mental health conditions
* Experience with psychosocial interventions, group work, and substance misuse awareness
Experience in hospital, community, or prison settings is desirable but not essential.
