Experienced Occupational Therapist – Stroke
Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Stroke Team at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen. You will be part of an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team and provide high quality rehabilitation to support early discharge with a home‑first ethos.
Main duties of the job
* Clinical leadership and management of a stroke rehabilitation caseload, with complex manual handling and acute/community service awareness.
* Autonomous prioritisation and management of a diverse, unpredictable caseload in a rapidly changing environment.
* Risk assessment, audit, PADR and staff supervision, providing leadership and advice.
* Participation in service development, research and evaluation activities.
* Maintain accurate documentation, triage and handover processes, and lead relevant clinical discussions.
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current HCPC registration
* Understanding of other health and social care staff roles
* Knowledge of rehabilitation interventions across all therapies
* Application of outcome measures and clinical governance, including research and audit methodology
* Working knowledge of therapeutic equipment and Microsoft Office
* Understanding of Health Board priorities and relevant legislation
Experience
* Significant postgraduate experience across a range of settings and conditions.
* Independent practice with indirect or arm’s length supervision.
* Delegation and supervision of staff; management of a complex caseload.
* Direct involvement with carers and families; community settings experience.
* Experience in service development and implementation of service changes.
* Self‑development and application of learning.
* Use of virtual communication platforms for service delivery.
Language Skills
* Welsh speaker (Level 1) – desirable; English is required.
