Offer description

* Working for a market leading company
* Career and personal progression opportunities
* Working on a range of project sizes

We are working on behalf of a leading global organisation specialising in water and wastewater treatment solutions. They deliver complex, high-value projects for utilities and industrial clients across the UK and are currently strengthening their commissioning capability due to sustained project growth.

They are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support projects across the North of England and Scotland. This is a field-based, travel-intensive role, well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands-on commissioning in live water treatment environments

The Role

Reporting into the Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in taking projects from mechanical completion through to successful handover and operation. The role carries a strong emphasis on safety, technical rigour, and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

* Working closely with the Commissioning Manager to oversee the full commissioning lifecycle, from equipment handover to system activation, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
* Coordinating commissioning activities on site, ensuring labour, specialist resources, and equipment are optimised to meet programme requirements.
* Participating in design reviews and contributing to control philosophies, commissioning strategies, and risk assessments.
* Producing and maintaining commissioning plans, procedures, test documentation, and final handover packs.
* Supporting fault finding, system optimisation, and performance validation on water treatment assets.

Candidate Profile

To be considered, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

* Electrically qualified (e.g. NVQ / HNC / equivalent).
* Proven experience working on water or wastewater treatment sites.
* Demonstrable commissioning experience on process plant or packaged systems.
* Strong understanding of health & safety within regulated environments.
* Full UK driving licence.

This is a travel-heavy role, with an average of three nights away per week, therefore applicants must be fully comfortable with regular overnight stays.

Package & Benefits

* Salary of £45,000 - £48,000, depending on experience.
* Company car.
* 37-hour working week, with paid overtime opportunities.
* 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + your birthday off.
* Long-term project stability with a well-established and respected organisation in the water sector.

If you are an experienced commissioning engineer looking for technically interesting projects, autonomy, and strong employment conditions within the water treatment sector, this opportunity warrants serious consideration.
