Senior Staff Nurse – Paediatric Hospital@Home
Band 6
This role is to deliver high‑quality nursing care to paediatric patients within the Hospital@Home service at North Middlesex University Hospital. The selected candidate will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing acute paediatric patients in their homes and coordinating with Paediatricians and pharmacy colleagues. The service operates 7 days a week, 08:00‑20:00, across Haringey and Enfield.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver treatment, reviews and assessments at the patient’s home.
* Identify suitable paediatric patients for Hospital@Home, conduct triage and support patient flow.
* Plan, implement and evaluate patient care, following policies and guidelines.
* Work with acute teams to facilitate early discharges and ensure treatment plans are met in the community.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit and quality improvement projects.
* Support the development of care pathways and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
Education & Qualifications
* RSCN or RN (Child) qualification.
* Relevant first‑level degree or master’s in an appropriate subject, or progress toward one.
* Recognised teaching / mentorship qualification.
* Evidence of work‑based learning and ability to meet competencies.
* Completion of the advanced assessment of the presenting child module at MSc level.
* Non‑medical prescribing course.
* Completed an Advanced Nurse Practitioner course.
* Previous audit experience working toward CCN SPQ.
* Adaptable and responsive to changing service needs.
* Ability to accept wide responsibility and use own initiative.
* Confidence in adverse situations, rapid assessment and management.
Experience
* Significant post‑registration experience in acute, emergency or community paediatric settings.
* Effective leadership skills.
* Experience working as part of a multi‑professional team.
* Compliance with mandatory training for safeguarding adults and children.
* IT skills: data entry, audit, analysis, database use, standard keyboard, Word, PAS, E‑Rostering.
* Ability to work safely under pressure across competing priorities.
* Target and deadline management.
* Research awareness and ability to develop a research‑aware culture.
* Clinical skills and competency for maintaining credibility.
* Initiative and independent decision making.
* Following detailed written instructions and assessment outcomes.
* Sound clinical judgement for acutely unwell paediatric patients.

* Experience in urgent care, rapid response or emergency care teams.
* Experience in quality improvement audit or projects.
