Trainee Clinical Perfusion Scientist
The opportunity is a 30‑month apprenticeship to become a Clinical Perfusion Scientist. The role involves full in‑service training, practical experience under supervision, and academic study through the post‑graduate Perfusion Science MSc programme at the University of Bristol, required for professional accreditation.
Main Duties
You will set up and control heart‑lung bypass equipment during cardiac surgery, working towards becoming a qualified, autonomous practitioner delivering perfusion services to the multidisciplinary team.
Job Responsibilities
* Set up and operate heart‑lung bypass equipment during cardiac operations.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver clinical and professional perfusion services.
* Progress through supervised training to achieve independent clinical practice.
* Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality assurance activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications / training required
* Honours degree (minimum 2:1) in a relevant science discipline.
Previous or relevant experience
* Problem‑solving experience in varied settings.
* Work experience in a healthcare environment.
Special requirements of the post
* Ability to work unsociable and additional hours when required.
* Willingness to fully participate in the on‑call rota during training.
* Full driving licence.

Salary
£24,852.56 per annum, pro rata.
