Network engineer (3rd line)

Salary: £40,000 - 45,000 per year Requirements: Proven experience in a 3rd line network engineer or senior network support role Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability network environments in public sector, healthcare, education, or enterprise settings Strong technical knowledge of routing protocols, including BGP and the TCP/IP stack Strong technical knowledge of WAN and LAN networking Strong technical knowledge of firewalls and network security Strong technical knowledge of wireless networking and SD-WAN technologies Hands-on experience with FortiGate, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto Experience using ITSM platforms, with ServiceNow desirable CCNA certification essential CCNP certification highly desirable Responsibilities: Provide 3rd line support across complex enterprise and ISP-level network environments Own and resolve escalated network incidents, carrying out deep technical diagnostics Support full-stack networking across WAN, LAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and SD-WAN Troubleshoot issues across core backbone, circuits, customer edge, and on-site infrastructure Work across multi-vendor environments including Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto Ensure high levels of network performance, availability, and reliability Maintain detailed documentation and update ITSM and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow Collaborate with internal teams and support knowledge sharing across the wider technical function Support customers in mission-critical environments with professionalism and accuracy Technologies: Backbone Cisco FortiGate Support ITSM LAN Network Security ServiceNow TCP/IP More: We are a growing and highly regarded managed services provider based in Solihull, and this is a fully on-site role working Monday to Friday from our office.
