We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Geologist to join a growing and well-respected ground investigation consultancy working across Essex and the wider South East. Based near Colchester, this role offers the chance to work on a broad range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a geology graduate or early-career Engineering Geologist looking to gain hands‑on experience and progress within a supportive and technically strong team.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering ground investigation projects across Essex, splitting your time between site and office‑based work.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervising ground investigations including trial pits and boreholes
* Logging soils and rocks in accordance with BS5930
* Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
* Overseeing drilling contractors on site
* Preparing factual and interpretative reports
* Supporting geotechnical and geoenvironmental assessments
* Maintaining high health & safety standards
Requirements
* Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or similar
* 1-4 years' experience in ground investigation
* Strong understanding of site investigation techniques
* Full UK driving licence
* Good communication and report writing skills
Desirable
* Experience working on projects across Essex / South East
* Phase 1 & Phase 2 reporting experience
* Knowledge of contaminated land risk assessments
* Working towards Chartership
