Offer description

Lead the strategic development, operational delivery and quality assurance of enhanced care services across Whipps Cross Hospital, ensuring safe, therapeutic and cost-effective care for patients with mental health needs, dementia, delirium and other complex care requirements.


Main duties of the job

To personally adhere to and always uphold the NMC Professional Code of Conduct, maintaining current professional registration and demonstrating expert knowledge of mental health, enhanced care and safeguarding legislation.

Provide expert clinical leadership in the assessment, planning and delivery of enhanced care for patients across the spectrum from dementia and delirium to acute mental health crisis, ensuring evidence-based, therapeutic interventions.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse (1st level registration) with current NMC registration
* Degree level qualification in nursing or related field
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to mental health and enhanced care
* Mental Health Act Managers training or equivalent
* Advanced qualification in mental health nursing (dual registration)
* Master's degree in nursing, mental health or related field
* Approved Mental Health Professional qualification
* Leadership and management qualification


Experience

* Minimum 5 years' experience in acute care setting with at least 2 years at Band 7 or above
* Significant experience in mental health nursing or enhanced care deliver
* Experience of managing teams and leading service development
* Proven experience of partnership working with mental health services
* Experience of budget management and financial planning
* Evidence of delivering nursing performance improvements including quality, safety and patient experience
* Experience of managing enhanced care teams or similar specialist nursing services
* Experience of working with NELFT or other mental health trusts
* Experience of CQC inspection preparation and regulatory compliance
* Experience of managing complex safeguarding cases
* Experience of coroner's court proceedings and serious incident investigations
* Experience of training delivery and workforce development


Knowledge

* Comprehensive understanding of Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice
* Expert knowledge of Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
* Understanding of enhanced care principles and therapeutic interventions
* Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children's procedures
* Understanding of professional standards and regulatory requirements
* Knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement methodologies
* Understanding of NHS financial management and contracting
* Knowledge of research methodologies and evidence-based practice
* Understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to mental health environments
* Knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion principles
* Understanding of information governance and data protection
