Job Title: Works Planner Location: Walsall Salary: £26,673.74 OnSite, part South Staffordshire PLC, is a long-established company respected within the water and wastewater industries. With extensive expertise in surveying, managing, and maintaining assets, OnSite delivers engineering-based services across the entire water cycle. The Works Planner plays a key role in ensuring that field teams are fully resourced and scheduled to deliver maintenance, repair, and operational activities to the highest standard. Using the works management system, the role balances proactive and reactive demands, ensuring effective scheduling, timely communication with customers, and alignment with service level agreements (SLAs). What’s The Role Develop, release, and monitor work schedules for field teams to meet operational and customer requirements. Balance reactive and proactive workloads to create an achievable plan that maximises efficiency. Maintain close communication with customers, ensuring they are updated at every stage of works. Liaise with operational team leaders and field teams to track delivery, feedback, and available capacity. Manage workflow risks and escalations to ensure service levels are met. Update and maintain records on the in-house Maximo system. Oversee Streetworks updates (site starts, work stops, and registrations) in line with regulatory timescales. Build strong relationships with internal teams, sub-contractors, and client companies. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to best practice initiatives. Support performance against operational KPIs and participate in team meetings. What You Will Need Essential Skills & Attributes: Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and time management. Self-motivated and proactive in problem-solving. Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Professional, reliable, and able to lead by example. Desirable Previous experience in planning, scheduling, or a similar role (utilities, construction, or service industries). Knowledge of works management systems (e.g., Maximo) and Streetworks regulations. Familiarity with KPI-driven environments.
