Job Description:
Leonardo is a global high-tech defence company providing world leading EW hardware, software and service solutions around the world. At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Bid Manager to join the Electronic Warfare Operational Support team based in Luton and Lincoln. This role will lead bids providing integrated EW service solutions that enable our customers to manage their EW mission data capabilities.
In this exciting role you will cover all aspects of Bid Management including, leading the preparation of compelling commercial proposals in response to formal ITT/RFQs, or their equivalent, whilst administering the Leonardo Business Winning Process.
1. Ensure timely completion of high quality compelling bids and proposals with a properly authorised price.
2. Manage bids in line with the Leonardo Business Winning policies and procedures, delivering best practice guidance for critical proposal activities.
3. Manage and monitor internal spend in support of allocated EW Operational Support Bids, reporting current spend at regular review points and investigating overspends.
4. Attend Business Winning Reviews in support of allocated Bids.
5. Develop and communicate comprehensive bid plans and manage their delivery, according to established bid processes.
6. Ability to manage multiple bids in parallel.
7. Plan, manage and lead the bid team through the internal solution development, costing/pricing, proposal preparation and submission to the customer.
8. Manage all Bid documentation using appropriate and secure mediums
9. Leading any Lesson Learnt reviews on the bids submitted.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills:
16. Relevant degree or equivalent experience
17. Experience acting as bid manager for complex defence proposals, (typically between £1M - £10M)
18. Previous experience of MoD & Export bid process and procedures
19. Proven history of winning UK and overseas defence related bids
20. A clear understanding of all main roles within a bid team, and an ability to manage their complex interdependencies to ensure a successful bid submission.
21. Understanding of best practice bid processes and tools (e.g. for bid planning, Black Hat, Red Team, Price to Win etc)
22. Ability to generate complex cost bases and price builds
23. Financially and commercially aware
