SEMH Teacher - Specialist SEND School - Rochdale Start Date: September 2025 Contract: Full-time (Part-time considered - minimum 3 days per week) Location: Rochdale Setting: SEMH Class within a Special Needs School Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a specialist SEND school in Rochdale to recruit a committed and resilient SEMH Teacher. This is a temporary supply role starting in September 2025 to cover a staff absence. The school caters for pupils aged 11 to 19 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASD), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will be teaching a Key Stage 3 class of students with SEMH and associated behavioural and communication needs. The Role: Teaching a Key Stage 3 SEMH class within a specialist SEND school Full-time preferred (Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm), but part-time considered for a minimum of 3 days per week Planning and delivering individualised, engaging lessons Working alongside experienced teaching assistants and specialist support staff Supporting pupils' emotional regulation, social development, and academic progress The Ideal Candidate Will: Hold QTS or QTLS and have recent experience teaching students with SEMH or similar needs Be passionate about inclusive education and able to build strong, trusting relationships Demonstrate effective behaviour management using trauma-informed or relational approaches Show emotional resilience, patience and adaptability Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals Confidently lead a classroom team and support teaching assistants The School: Rated 'Good' by Ofsted (2022) Well-established special school for pupils aged 11-19 Offers a range of specialist classes by age and need, including SEMH, ASD, SLD, and PMLD Excellent facilities and resources tailored to SEND learners Strong focus on life skills, community involvement, and preparing students for adulthood To join us and be successful in this SEMH Teacher role, you will need to: Hold QTS or QTLS Have experience teaching or supporting students aged 11-16 with SEMH and/or SEND Provide a CV with full employment and education history, explaining any gaps Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply) Have the legal right to work in the UK Why work with Tradewind?
