SEND Tutor
Pay starting from GBP25 per hour
Prospero CES are currently seeking an experienced, patient and nurturing tutor to work with a young person that has Special Education Needs within Gateshead. This individual is 10 years old and currently on a waiting list for a specialist placement, you will be acting as their alternative education provision until this is found and they are successfully transitioned in. The young person has a variety of conditions, including Global Developmental Delay, Attention Deficit Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder, alongside various mental health conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, empathetic tutor to utilise their skills & make a meaningful difference in the lives of a vulnerable individual. While the focus is on Maths & English, the Tutor will need to be proactive, creative and caring in their role.
The successful tutor will be versed in attachment aware and trauma-informed practice, with the ability to act with patience and develop lessons to suit the young persons needs.
We can accommodate full or part-time hours, matching you with students that meet the number of hours you are looking for. We have work across Gateshead, Newcastle and Durham. A UK drivers license is not essential, but would be preferred alongside a willingness to travel.
Experience working 1-to-1 with SEND students is essential for this role.
We can build up your timetable to accommodate either full or part time hours. Pay rate varies between GBP25 & GBP30 per hour depending on if you have Qualified Teacher Status.

· Build a rapport with the young person
· Tailor lessons to their needs
· Mark sessional attendance
· Complete weekly reports
· Complete an Individual Learning Plan

What we need from you:
· Hold the right to work in the UK
· Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to complete a new application
· Provide references to cover the last two years of employment
· The ability to commit to the young person and work for the duration of the placement
