The post holder will work within the Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Protection team, within the Medical Physics department, which consists of 9 Clinical Scientists, Clinical Technologists and admin support. This is a fixed term role for 14 months.
You will provide scientific expertise, advice and support in the safe and optimal use of non-ionising radiation in a range of departments within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Gloucestershire Health & Care Foundation Trust and other clients.
This Clinical Scientist role will provide support to clinical services working with Non-Ionising Radiation with regards to governance and compliance with legislation and published guidance to ensure patient and staff safety.
The role will span multiple modalities, including ultrasound, AOR (UV/blue light, lasers) and MRI, with opportunities to support a variety of projects across these areas. Opportunities for optimising and automating image analysis.

To provide additional NIR cover in the DR physics team in the Medical Physics department.
Main duties of the job
* Testing & calibrating a range of patient critical clinical equipment of varying complexity following existing procedures using technical equipment, including acceptance/commissioning testing.
* Liaising with a variety of healthcare professionals to report results of work, advise on safety and quality at various stages of the equipment lifecycle.
* To support supervisors (e.g. AORPs, MRRP, LPS) & clinical teams with risk assessments, local rules and periodic safety audits to review compliance with safety legislation & Trust Policy and investigations of specific issues and incidents.
* Support the planning & safety recommendations for new purchases, installations and facilities using non-ionising radiation, working under supervision of senior advisors (e.g. AORPA, MRSE, LPA).
