Harness Design Engineer (Space Systems)
Location: Stevenage (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Security Clearance: SC Eligible (BPSS considered for candidates with strong Space/Defense backgrounds)
We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer (Electrical Harness) to take central responsibility for the Spacecraft Harness work package throughout Phases B, C, and D of major space programs. You will serve as the primary technical lead, coordinating between customers, internal engineering teams, and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
* End-to-End Design: Define functional and physical electrical wiring, including functional channels, cable lists, and electrical diagrams (block/wiring).
* Requirements Management: Analyze mission requirements and cascade them into technical harness specifications.
* Technical Analysis: Perform or coordinate critical analyses including voltage drop, cable/connector derating, and mass estimation.
* Supplier Management: Lead co-engineering activities with suppliers, ensuring \"On Time, On Quality, On Cost\" (OTOQOC) delivery of hardware and documentation.
* System Integration: Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test), and Electrical Interface teams to ensure geometric and functional consistency.
* R&D: Contribute to internal initiatives for harness standardization and process improvements.
Requirements
* Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
* Experience: Extensive professional experience in Electrical Harness Design, specifically within the Aerospace or Defense sectors.
* Tools: Proficiency with state-of-the-art harness design and modeling software.
* Communication: Fluent in English; additional proficiency in French, German, or Spanish is a significant advantage.
* Soft Skills: Ability to work precisely under pressure within an international, multi-disciplinary team.
Preferred Assets
* Direct experience in Electrical Interface engineering at the system level.
* Foundational project management skills.
* Hands-on experience with spacecraft MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Test).
