To develop operational plans to support the data strategy and execute in area of responsibility in order to derive value from data.
To adhere to and drive the adoption of the FirstRand Information Governance Framework and the Information Architecture policy within area of responsibility.
To embed information management within operational processes.
1. Business Intelligence
Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
Translate high level business requirements/problems into sound and comprehensive analytical framework.
Develop, automate, and maintain Business Intelligence Reporting and Modelling Strategy for the Bank.
Support and implement a cycle of medium-term improvements to drive profitability and strategic objectives through BI.
Support departmental areas in performance reporting, business insights, and unpack hidden value to drive up efficiency.
Manage development of models, including forecasting, predictive, classification, and simulation through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Scan the regulatory landscape to inform the Bank on how such shifts and changes will affect profitability and efficiency.
Lead and mentor a team of Quantitative analysts, and information management personnel to ensure optimal output, growth and enhance skills and capabilities.
1. Information Governance / Management
Data privacy/ protection
Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments and provide proactive advice and solutions to stakeholders on data privacy. Define all business processes that involve acquiring customer data and ensure that the necessary due diligence is followed in the securing the data by designing privacy rules and processed within the technology used. Review existing and new customer set-up processes to identify gaps and recommend process enhancements to mitigate any threats to customer data. Collaborate with all areas across FNBE to ensure that access levels that contain data on all systems is managed appropriately and risks are managed. Ensure that any incidents with regard to unauthorized disclosure of information are recorded and plans are put in place. Ensure that the FNBE operating standards and procedures which assists in the implementation of the customized in-country Data Privacy and Protection Framework, policies and minimum standards has been developed and embedded. Ensure that privacy risk assessments are conducted whenever new business processes or systems are developed within the FSRN operation, or when existing processes or systems are modified, to ensure that adequate privacy controls are identified and implemented as early as possible in the design and development lifecycle.
Data quality
Conduct comprehensive assessments of the quality of data, evaluating data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and relevance against predefined quality standards and requirements. Use data profiling tools and techniques to analyze and understand the structure, content, and quality of data sets. Identifying data anomalies, errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies that may impact data quality and integrity. Implement data cleansing processes and procedures to address data quality issues identified during assessment and analysis. Collaborate with data governance teams to establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to data quality. Documenting data quality rules, definitions, and lineage to ensure transparency and traceability of data quality processes. Managing metadata repositories and data dictionaries to facilitate understanding and usage of data assets.
Information Management
Developing and implementing information governance policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure the effective management, protection, and utilization of information assets. These include Information governance framework, data quality management policy, metadata policy, etc. Identify and appoint information owners and data stewards across the bank to define data requirements, data definitions, data migration, and data maps. Collaborate with data engineer to define the data architecture landscape and develop the data architecture transition plans. Lead the in-country data migration plan to platform and advice data engineer to ensure data pipelines and ETL are accurate. Collaborate with IT security teams to implement information security measures and controls to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, disclosure, and cyber threats.
Qualifications
* Minimum qualification: Relevant Degree in Maths, Stats, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Physics or Actuarial Science
Preferred Qualification - Honours Degree
Experience and Skills
* Experience years' experience in a data environment, of which 1 - 2 years ideally at a junior specialist level
* Additional Knowledge - Deep domain knowledge with regards to financial services: Credit, Pricing, Marketing, CVM, Trading etc.
* Design thinking
* Analytics Ops, Agile and SAFe concepts will assist
* Concepts such as: Exploratory data analysis, Data Science Pipeline lines
* Hands on experience using model such as: Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machines, Classifications, Boosting Algorithms, Time Series, Feature Engineering.
* Data and Information Management topics e.g., structure, dimensions, storage
