About the service
Shropshire Community Short Breaks provides Community Short Breaks to families with children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years with disabilities. We currently support up to 200 children and young people.
Our service has different offerings during term time and school holidays.
During term time we run:
After School Clubs offering 3 hours sessions (usually 3-6pm Monday to Thursday) in Shrewsbury
Saturday Morning Youth Club offering 3 hours sessions (usually 9.30am – 12.30pm) in Shrewsbury
During school holidays we run:
Holiday Club offering all-day sessions (usually 9.30am – 3.30pm) 4 days a week in Shrewsbury
In addition we also offer an Outreach Service all year round covering the whole of Shropshire
How you'll help to create brighter futures
As a Community Support Worker you’ll provide support and personal care to the child or young person while collaborating with families and other professionals to tailor activities and support to their needs.
As a Community Short Breaks Worker you’ll:
* Helping young people with disabilities to access and participate in activities and to have a presence in the community.
* Providing a safe environment where they can enjoy time, learn and have fun in a safe setting.
* Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.
* Help them to gain confidence and independence.
* Keep them safe and allow them to have fun.
Let's talk about you
Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. As a Community Short Breaks Worker ideally you will have:
* Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, young people, families and other professionals.
* Experience within disability support, childcare or family support is desirable
* Driving license with access to vehicle (desirable but not essential).
