Job Purpose
To support the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pub, dining, and accommodation areas, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, team leadership, and smooth operational delivery across all facets of the business
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations
* Support the GM in running daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
* Ensure the smooth coordination between the bar, kitchen, and rooms.
* Open and close the venue as Duty Manager on a rota basis.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety across all areas.
Guest Experience
* Deliver a warm, welcoming environment for all guestswhether dining, drinking, or staying overnight.
* Deal promptly and professionally with guest enquiries, bookings, and complaints.
* Ensure standards of service consistently exceed guest expectations.
People Management
* Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff.
* Lead by example, motivating and managing team performance on shift.
* Support rotas, holiday planning, and shift coverage to ensure optimal staffing levels.
* Help drive a positive and inclusive team culture.
Food & Beverage
* Maintain quality and consistency in food and drink offerings in line with the company standards.
* Assist in managing stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.
* Uphold licensing laws and health & safety, food hygiene, and allergen regulations.
Accommodation Oversight
* Oversee room bookings and liaise with housekeeping to ensure rooms are guest-ready.
* Support the maintenance of room standards and guest amenities.
* Respond to guest feedback and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
Finance & Profitability
* Assist in achieving financial targets including sales, margins, and cost control.
* Support cashing up, end-of-day procedures, and banking.
* Contribute ideas to drive revenue across food, drink, and rooms.
Marketing & Promotion
* Help promote offers, events, and experiences in line with the pubs brand.
* Engage with guests and support the use of social media and review platforms.
Person SpecificationEssential
* Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in a similar hospitality setting.
* Strong knowledge of food and drink service.
* Confident in team leadership and delivering excellent customer service.
* Hands-on approach with a can-do attitude.
* Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Desirable
* Knowledge of room operations and hospitality software (e.g., booking systems).
* Personal Licence holder or willingness to obtain.
* First Aid trained.
