Job Description:
The Faculty of Education and the Arts at the University of Winchester is a vibrant, welcoming community that offers a dynamic learning and teaching environment, informed by world-leading research and highly creative staff. We deliver an exciting range of study opportunities in Education and the Arts at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a thriving community of postgraduate research students.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, versatile, and industry-engaged Lecturer in Music and Sound Production to join our team. You will teach across our BA (Hons) Music & Sound Production and BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance & Production programmes, preparing students to thrive in all areas of music production and some performance.
You will bring interdisciplinary expertise to support a diverse curriculum, with teaching areas that may include sequencing, synthesis, interactive music, electronic music production, live sound, the music business, and performance skills. As well as delivering practical and contextual teaching, you will supervise student projects, contribute to curriculum development, and support the academic administration of modules on the programmes.
We seek applicants who can inspire our students by sharing real-world experience and encouraging them to think creatively, critically, and professionally—the core values that underpin all our teaching. Ideally, you will have experience teaching at undergraduate level, knowledge of the music industry, and familiarity with working in production and performance contexts, particularly using digital audio workstations. Qualifications in music theory, production, or performance are an advantage but not essential.
The successful candidate will teach across a range of contextual and theoretical subjects in this area, supervise projects, support the ongoing development of this provision, and may also be asked to assume organizational and administrative responsibilities at project, module, and programme levels. The post-holder will also have opportunities to contribute to the Faculty’s research, innovation, and knowledge exchange environment and will support student recruitment and public engagement activities.
As an employee at the University of Winchester, we are committed to your wellbeing and development. You will have access to a wide range of benefits and support, including:
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Holiday entitlement of 35 days per year, pro-rata
* Discounts at many retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues
* Free wellbeing events, including weekly exercise classes
