Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Essex.

Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support. We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN / SEND, as well as other needs such as SEMH needs. We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD and SLD.

We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Essex. At Targeted Provision our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists. This role is suitable for qualified SEN / SEND teachers who prefer 1:1 tutoring with a variety of learning needs in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role

* Provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
* Young people are referred by local authorities and schools and may require support in their educational and social-emotional journey
* Offer flexible and holistic trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring


SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities

* Plan each session of teaching, tutoring, and mentoring
* Provide holistic and engaging sessions that meet needs and advance educational and social-emotional journey
* Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on progress


SEN / SEND Tutor requirements

* Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience
* Experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs
* Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
* Enhanced DBS (assistance to obtain at cost if needed)
* Two professional references
* You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote assignments

It is a strict requirement to promote health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies at all times.


SEN / SEND Tutor employment status

* Work as a Worker, providing short-term engagements as they arise
* Contract for service and paid via PAYE
* No guaranteed amount of work or expenses coverage
* Our insurance covers the work you do for us
* This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
