Job Description Summary
As a Control & Protection Lead Engineer, you will work with HVDC NPI to develop control solutions based on the eLumina platform, reporting to the NPI/NTI Leader. The successful candidate will mentor and lead other engineers to deliver project scope, promote consistent design practices with a product mindset, and provide technical solutions to industrialize the product.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Managing engineering processes
* Providing technical guidance and design standards
* Driving consistent design practices and global project processes
Roles and Responsibilities
* Lead the development of HVDC Control & Protection systems, including requirements, design, implementation, and verification activities.
* Mentor less experienced team members and potentially expand the team.
* Review and approve technical documents and system models in electromagnetic transient tools like PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and MATLAB-SIMULINK.
* Tune control and protection parameters to meet grid stability criteria.
* Support project risk assessments and technical reviews, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant solutions.
* Coach and develop department talent, leading small projects with low risks.
* Make informed decisions using technical expertise, data analysis, and innovative approaches.
* Continuously improve product delivery speed, stability, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
* Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in HVDC.
* Extensive experience in control and protection system design.
* Expertise in HVDC control, protection, sequencing, and simulation tools like PSCAD and MATLAB-SIMULINK.
* Experience in HVDC dynamic performance studies and technical leadership.
* Willingness to travel and support global projects.
* Strong communication skills and customer relationship management.
