Develop the design, construction methodology, programme, and cost for your assigned area of work under the guidance of the Construction Manager.
Prepare for the delivery of these works by managing resources, providing supervision, advice, and guidance to the construction teams and subcontractors.
Ensure that the progress of the works aligns with the contract, programme, budget, and design specifications.
Implement and ensure compliance with all relevant HS2 and statutory requirements concerning Health, Safety, Environment, and Public Relations within your scope of work.
Role Responsibilities
1. Develop the design, construction methodology, programme, and cost; prepare for work delivery, including resources, procurement, consents, and pre-start documentation.
2. Manage, supervise, train, and mentor the site team to optimize their contributions.
3. Review contractual agreements, develop detailed site-specific programmes, forecast budgets, assess actual progress and productivity, and report to the Construction Manager and QS department.
4. Understand subcontractor contract conditions, assist in developing subcontract conditions, and manage subcontractor accounts with the QS team.
5. Requisition resources timely to ensure they are correctly specified and available to avoid delays.
6. Communicate non-conformances and instructions from clients/designers/REs to the Construction Manager, and maintain comprehensive records of resources and additional works.
7. Keep accurate daily site diaries, including changes, variations, subcontractor attendance, and discussions.
8. Ensure implementation of inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
9. Demonstrate commitment to Health & Safety and Environmental policies, and implement relevant Safety Management System requirements.
10. Ensure the construction team, subcontractors, and suppliers are informed of relevant policies and developments.
11. Coordinate internally with the Construction Manager, Design and Engineering Team, QA, and Cost Control; externally with HS2, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
12. Understand and implement the Client and JV Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies and statutory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
* Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field, or HND with vocational training.
* Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing, and best practices.
* Experience with construction contracts and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and document control systems.
* Excellent communication skills adaptable to different audiences.
* Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
