Job Description
Teaching & Learning
* Plan, deliver and assess engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with a range of SEN/ALN, including (but not limited to) ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD and communication needs
* Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment that supports individual learning styles
* Use a variety of teaching strategies, interventions and resources to meet pupils' needs
* Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, adapting teaching accordingly
Pupil Support
* Develop and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in line with the ALN Code for Wales
* Support pupils' emotional regulation, behaviour and wellbeing using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
* Promote pupils' independence, confidence and social development
* Work effectively with support staff to ensure consistent and high-quality provision
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience teaching pupils with SEN/ALN, ideally in a specialist or additional needs setting
* Strong understanding of the ALN Code for Wales (or willingness to develop this)
* Ability to plan and deliver differentiated, inclusive lessons
* Excellent communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills
* A calm, patient and resilient approach to teaching and behaviour support
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
