About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Pharmacotherapy Support Worker to join the Realistic Medicine Pharmacy Team within NHS Borders Primary Care.

This is a key support role within team, working closely with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to support the safe, effective and person-centred use of medicines.

What youll do

· Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with routine, non-clinical medicines management tasks

· Run searches and reports using GP clinical systems (EMIS/Vision) and the Scottish Therapeutics Utility (STU)

· Collect and collate data for audit and reporting

· Communicate professionally with patients, carers and healthcare professionals by phone, email and in person

· Act as a point of contact for the team, triaging enquiries and messages appropriately

· Support the ongoing development and improvement of pharmacy systems and processes

You will work across traditional primary and secondary care boundaries and liaise with GP practices, community pharmacy, care homes, social care and wider healthcare teams.

Essential

· Experience of working in an administrative or support role

· Experience of dealing with the public

· Experience of working in the NHS or a healthcare environment

· Good keyboard and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email

· Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

· Ability to prioritise workload, work accurately and manage competing demands

· Tact, diplomacy and professionalism when dealing with sensitive situations

Desirable

· Knowledge of medicines or medicines management

· Experience using GP systems such as EMIS or Vision

· Pharmacy qualification (NVQ/SVQ Pharmacy Services / Dispenser)

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
