What's involved with this role: Job Title: Accommodation Solutions Officer Reference: K&C 5283576 Salary: £20.86 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution Hours: 36 hours per week Monday-Friday Role length: 2 months opening assignment Job type: On-site Location: Kensington & Chelsea Contract Type: Temporary The role: You will support the Accommodation Solutions Team in managing households in temporary accommodation and helping them move on to suitable long-term housing. The role covers suitability assessments, move-on support, tenancy audits, enforcement activity, and advice to households on their housing options. It is a busy front-line post requiring sound judgement, accurate record-keeping, and strong communication. Key Responsibilities: Place single people and families into suitable temporary accommodation in line with policy. Carry out suitability assessments and ensure fair and cost-effective use of available properties. Work with procurement teams to match households to appropriate offers. Manage inboxes and phone enquiries, providing timely advice to residents. Support households with move-on options including social housing, private rented and intermediate rent. Monitor bidding activity and help households make informed housing choices. Handle tenancy breaches, emergency transfers, and enforcement actions when required. Visit households to offer guidance, assess needs and identify required support. Complete HB forms and gather medical evidence for specialist assessments. Lead on tenancy checks and investigate suspected abandonment or misuse. Issue NTQs and work with Legal Services where needed. Maintain accurate case records, reporting data and producing written statements when required. Respond to complaints, enquiries and member correspondence promptly. Build strong relationships with providers, internal teams and partner agencies. Support continuous service improvement and contribute to policy and procedure updates. What the client is looking for: Strong understanding of homelessness legislation, welfare reform and housing needs. Experience delivering front-line services to homeless households. Clear written and verbal communication, able to produce accurate letters and reports. Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision. Confident in assessing risk, identifying issues and proposing workable solutions. Ability to handle sensitive, complex cases with fairness and professionalism. Commitment to equality, customer care and high-quality service delivery. Desirable: Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to interpret departmental objectives and explain them simply to residents. Previous experience in temporary accommodation, move-on, or resettlement services.
