Electrical Operations Officer

Responsibilities
* Prioritise, issue and complete electrical maintenance work using the relevant information and management system in operation.
* Assist in revising working procedures and practices as necessary.
* Ensure facilities, equipment and supplies are available when required.
* Supervise directly employed and contract staff.
* Work mainly on the Winchester site (and Andover) but may cover other sites as required.
* Work in accordance with electrical HTMs, statutory regulations, IET Wiring Regulations and Trust policies.
* Assess situations, complex faults and requirements and propose works to resolve.
* Maintain and share technical knowledge with the team.
* Propose updates and amendments to Trust‑wide policy and procedures.
* Carry out all work safely, following risk assessments at all times.
* Carry out emergency repairs, including overtime if necessary.
* Act as Authorised Person for LV/HV Electrical Systems and lifts.
* Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications and interpret regulations.
* Manage the site electrical teams, conduct appraisals, manage absence, annual leave, KPIs and PDPs.
* Manage conduct and capability concerns.
* Manage employed staff and contractors, inspecting work to monitor progress, quality and performance.
* Ensure staff comply with statutory, regulatory, health & safety, and Trust policies.
* Take appropriate action to resolve non‑compliance.
* Monitor staff claim forms and advise the Site Maintenance Manager.
* Manage operational aspects of maintenance‑related service contacts to meet agreed service levels.
* Manage small works projects, prepare specifications and cost estimates, ensuring delivery on time, quality and cost.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge acquired through courses (e.g., structured training programme in electrical engineering/installation).
* BTEC/ONC in electrical and electronic engineering or relevant experience.
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations Certificate.
* Knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
* Working knowledge of HTM (Electrical), electrical distribution systems, emergency lighting, standby generators, UPS systems, fire alarm systems, building management systems.
* Health & Safety awareness training and asbestos awareness training.
* Authorised Person in two relevant disciplines.
* LV Authorised Person (training will be provided).
* HV Authorised Person.
* Emergency first aid training.
* Experience with specialist medical electrical systems such as IPS.
* Experience managing service contracts.
* IOSH Managing Safety qualification.
Experience and Knowledge
* A minimum of one year of post‑qualification experience in an electrical maintenance environment.
* Good awareness of health & safety legislation and experience working to safe systems of work.
* Experience as an Authorised/Responsible Person on high voltage, low voltage and lifts.
* Experience working in an acute hospital environment.
* Experience working with building management systems.
