LOCATION: London - TVC
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £70,000- £85,000 plus London Weighting Allowance of £5,441 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This role will lead development in a major media supply chain transformation at BBC Studios. The role is vital to delivering modern, serverless, cloud-native workflows supporting global content operations. You'll work closely with architects, developers, and product teams to drive future-proof, end-to-end delivery. The role balances hands-on coding with leadership-guiding technical direction, mentoring others, and embedding best practices throughout delivery. It's a highly technical position with direct influence on shaping our evolving technology landscape.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Lead development activities across supply chain teams, ensuring end-to-end delivery of working software to business value.
* Collaborate with architects to ensure designs are clearly understood by development teams, support iterative delivery, and are sustainable for long-term operational needs.
* Lead and coordinate agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups and backlog refinement sessions.
* Champion continuous improvement in processes, tools, and engineering practices.
* Future-proof development processes by introducing modern approaches and leveraging AI tools.
* Ensure observability, scalability, and maintainability across solutions.
* A trusted technical leader, mentoring developers and fostering knowledge sharing.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* An experienced technical leader with deep expertise in cloud-native and serverless architecture, actively engaged in hands-on development.
* AWS Serverless expertise: Lambda, Step Functions, SNS/SQS/EventBridge.
* Programming: proficiency in TypeScript.
* Databases: Experience with at least: DynamoDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB/DocumentDB (or similar NoSQL solutions)
* Cloud Architecture: AWS Associate level certification or equivalent experience building serverless solutions.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Interest Experience in building media processing workflows (transcoding, metadata pipelines).
* Media workflows, Python, and AI-assisted development processes.
* Leadership: Proven experience leading technical teams in a DevOps environment.
* Knowledge of media processing workflows (transcoding, metadata pipelines).
* Python experience or strong desire to learn.
