Nurse Associate with NMC registration, or in final qualifying year

At North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, we have high ambitions and are committed to delivering exceptional care for the populations we serve. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Surgical Services Team, working across Hand & Wrist and Podiatric Surgery specialties.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Consultants, Podiatrists, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants, providing high-quality, patient-centred care in both outpatient and theatre settings.


Main Duties of the Job

* Demonstrates safe and effective practice within the scope of the Associate Practitioner role
* Assist with pre-operative assessment and prehabilitation
* Undertake wound care and redressing’s support patients throughout their surgical journey
* Participate in theatre duties, including circulating and scrub roles
* Work collaboratively within a dynamic surgical team

All training will be provided, subject to meeting essential criteria.

The Associate Practitioner has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the field of surgical services, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages in a variety of settings. The Associate Practitioner works independently under the leadership of registered professionals, working within the sphere of nursing and podiatric surgery.

Associate Practitioners are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as an Associate Practitioner and will work to the NMC Code and Standards for Associate Practitioners. The following criteria identify the core components of the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of Associate Practitioners.

They identify what Associate Practitioners can contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings. Integral to all of these is the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.

They will be able to communicate effectively across a wide range of channels and with a wide range of individuals, the public, health and social care professionals, maintaining the focus of communication on delivering and improving health and care services.

They will work with the team delivering care; they will be aware of the different roles in the team and understand their role within it. They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder may be required to work anywhere within the hospital or community setting.
