The role
As a NDT Quality Inspector, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the forefront of one of the UK’s most ambitious defence programmes - the Type 31 Frigate. This is your opportunity to contribute to a project that protects global communities and strengthens national security. You’ll ensure the structural integrity and quality of our advanced naval vessels, playing a vital role in delivering engineering excellence.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
2. Conducting product verification audits and onboard quality investigations.
3. Supporting the Quality Manager and collaborating with internal manufacturing teams.
4. Performing structural and NDT inspections, including ultrasonic testing of welds and components.
5. Coordinating Lloyd’s Register inspections and managing inspection schedules.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday with overtime opportunities available at weekends and is based on site at Rosyth. We have three exciting opportunities available: one permanent role and two 18-month fixed-term contracts.
Essential experience of the NDT Quality Inspector
6. Strong understanding of quality control principles.
7. Skilled in assessing production and subcontractor work for quality and compliance.
8. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
9. Proven expertise in welding and NDT inspection, particularly ultrasonic testing.
10. Experience in heavy manufacturing environments, ideally involving fabrication and structural work.
Qualifications for the NDT Quality Inspector
11. Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous.
12. Preferred CSWIP 3.1 (or equivalent).
13. SVQ Level 3 or above in a recognised engineering trade (e.g., Fabrication, Welding, Shipwright, Marine Engineering).
14. Minimum ISO/PCN Level 2 in Ultrasonic Testing welds (3.1/3.2 minimum) and Magnetic Particle Testing (Penetrant Testing is beneficial).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
