JOB TITLE: Teacher - Primary
REPORTS TO: Principal
PROFESSIONAL DUTIES OF A TEACHER
Regulations: Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987, Schedule 3, Regulation 5
General Duties:
* Carry out professional duties as required, under the reasonable direction of the principal or the employing authority.
Specific Duties:
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons.
* Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
* Assessing and reporting on pupils' development, progress, and attainment.
* Promoting pupils' well-being and providing advice on educational and social matters.
* Maintaining records and communicating with parents and external bodies.
* Participating in staff development, curriculum development, and school administration.
* Maintaining good order and discipline, safeguarding health and safety.
* Participating in public examinations and assessment processes.
* Contributing to management activities, staff recruitment, and organizational tasks.
* Adhering to the stipulated working days and hours, including supervision duties and breaks.
* Providing cover for absent teachers as per policy.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria:
* Qualified to teach in Northern Ireland, registered with GTCNI.
* Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at Key Stage Foundation or Key Stage 1.
* Experience with digital media and supporting pupils with diverse needs.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding, SEND Code of Practice, and assessment methods.
* Effective classroom management, inclusive teaching, teamwork, and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in Specialist Provision, withdrawal groups, monitoring pupil progress.
Criminal Background:
Enhanced Disclosure required for roles involving regulated activity. Applicants will bear the cost.
