About the Role
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Washington. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive within a mainstream classroom environment.
The Pupil
The pupil is based full‑time within the main classroom and does not display challenging behaviour. They require additional support to access learning, particularly with understanding instructions and developing comprehension skills. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s confidence and educational progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 SEND support for a Year 4 pupil
* Support the pupil in accessing and understanding classwork
* Adapt learning resources to suit individual learning needs
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SEN staff
* Promote confidence, independence and engagement
* Assist with wider classroom support when appropriate
Requirements
* Previous experience working in UK primary schools
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND (highly desirable)
* Good understanding of the KS2 curriculum
* Patient, nurturing and encouraging approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
