About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Acting as Subject Matter Expert for health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture at Smiths News, covering road transport and operational yard safety at company and third-party locations.
* Owning company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit regimes, ensuring proper management and implementation.
* Leading the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to promote positive behaviors and embed a just safety culture.
Stakeholder engagement
* Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Health and Safety Executive, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
* Ensuring thorough investigation of incidents and accidents by trained colleagues, with escalation based on severity, and liaising with external agencies as needed.

About you
* Minimum Nebosh Level 3 qualification or equivalent
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental risk management qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels
* Valid UK driving license (company vehicle may be provided)
