A Modern Apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that leads to an industry approved qualification. As part of this job role the post holder will be expected to work towards and gain a Scottish Vocational Qualification at level 2 in Business and Administration.\u202F\n\nThe Apprentice will work, under supervision, to\u202Fprovide an efficient business support service in a professional manner in line with business requirements.\n\nThese vacancies are restricted to applicants who currently live in Fife. You must also be aged between 16 and 24 as of the 16th August 2025.\u202F\n Providing a comprehensive business support service by using computer systems and processes to support service delivery including:\n\nData/word processing using Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. generating letters and responses for signature and/or issue and spreadsheets, checking quality of output and advising on layout and presentation if required.\n\nPreparing and distributing documentation using Microsoft office packages and Outlook email system.\n\nFinancial transactions using the Councilâs financial systems e.g.\u202FOracle, Ash Debtors, LAGAN.\n\nPrinting, scanning, copying, mail handling and other general administrative duties.\n\nAttending meetings either as an individual or to represent the team or to take notes of meetings.\u202FAssist in the arrangement and organisation of diary appointments.\n\nCustomer contact duties â dealing appropriately with personal and telephone callerâs e.g. providing routine information from computerised information systems.\u202FWhere possible respond directly to enquiries from other Services or contacts, if unable to resolve pass enquiry to relevant member of staff/team.\n\nAlthough the Apprentice is expected to complete tasks the Team Co-ordinator/Lead Officer\u202Fwill have direct responsibility for allocating and where required, prioritising the day to day work of the Apprentice. The Apprenticeâs Development Worker will provide ongoing support in relation to completion of Business Administration qualification framework. They will also act as a link person between Apprentice, Team Co-ordinator/Lead Officer\u202Fand qualification Training Provider.\n\nGeneral day to day contacts for the Apprentice will include all levels of Service employees as well as members of the public and external organisations, either in person or over the phone.\n\nThe Apprentice will be part of a team providing support to Council Services. Educated to National 4 with core skills modules, SVQ1, 3 Standard or âOâ Grades or equivalent.\u202F\u202F\n\nYou should ideally have an understanding of using current Microsoft computer-based applications. You will have the ability to develop good communication skills including an awareness of customer care with telephone, e-mail, and face to face enquiries.\u202F\u202F\u202F\n\nYou will have the aptitude to develop key skills including accuracy, attention to detail, time management, customer service, interpersonal and organisational skills.\u202F\u202F\n\nThe Apprentice must achieve milestone targets related to completion of SVQ level 2 Business and Administration as agreed on an individual Training Plan.
