Associate/Senior Associate – Insurance Disputes – Birmingham - Permanent – Full time
The role
What does the role involve?
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Associate / Senior Associate to join our team on a permanent basis. You will provide a wide range of general and specialist insurance coverage and claims defence advice, requiring excellent knowledge of the Birmingham insurance market, Lloyds regulatory issues, coverage and policy interpretation, as well as up-to-date knowledge of court and dispute resolution processes and strategies. You will have excellent team working and leadership skills, experience managing a team, and familiarity with a variety of leadership tools and strategies.
You will ideally have some experience of the insurance market (but not essential) as well as up-to-date pre-action and litigation procedure knowledge.
The Team
This is an opportunity to join the leading and prestigious professional indemnity team in the West Midlands, ranked as No.1 in the legal directories. You will work in a team of lawyers defending a broad range of professional indemnity claims against:
* solicitors and barristers
* construction professionals including architects, surveyors, engineers, design & build contractors
* financial professionals such as accountants, insolvency practitioners, IFAs, trustees, pension advisers
* insurance brokers
The team also handles a significant number of coverage investigations for insurers.
The team is part of the firm-wide Insurance Disputes NSL, headed by Niall Innes, and supported by a professional support lawyer. You will primarily support the local professional indemnity partners – Angus Turner, Neil Frankland, James Thompson, and David Gooding. You will also collaborate with other partners in the Insurance Disputes NSL on specific projects or as part of a wider client service team.
