Description
The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking a Principal to support the Carman Road School program. The successful candidate will provide instructional leadership and administrative oversight to ensure high-quality educational programming for students with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Supervising and evaluating instructional staff, related service providers, and support personnel
* Ensuring compliance with New York State and federal regulations related to special education services and individualized education programs (IEPs)
* Collaborating with district representatives, families, and community agencies to support student success
* Leading curriculum development, instructional planning, and data-driven decision-making
* Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate for students and staff
Requirements
* New York State Education Department Certification: School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL)
* Demonstrated experience in special education leadership, including supervision of staff and program development
* Strong knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Part 200 Regulations, and best practices in special education instruction and compliance
