This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Consultant to focus on high‑quality elective gynaecology, undertaking outpatient clinics, post‑operative reviews, and elective procedures including laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopy, endometrial assessment, and Mirena coil insertion. There are no routine on‑call commitments, allowing you to concentrate on achieving excellent clinical outcomes within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibilities
* Conduct outpatient gynaecology clinics for new and follow‑up patients.
* Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for a wide range of gynaecological conditions.
* Manage post‑operative follow‑up appointments and recovery pathways.
* Provide expert advice and support to patients regarding treatment options and ongoing care.
* Ensure informed consent is obtained and documented appropriately.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Perform elective procedures including laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, bilateral salpingo‑oophorectomy (BSO), diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, Mirena coil insertion and replacement, endometrial assessment and biopsy, and other elective gynaecological procedures within scope of practice and competency.
Service Delivery
* Support the efficient delivery of elective gynaecology services.
* Maximise theatre productivity and utilisation.
* Contribute to reducing patient waiting times.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient journeys.
* Support service development and pathway improvements.
Clinical Governance
* Adhere to all GMC, CQC, and organisational standards.
* Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
* Promote a culture of patient safety and clinical excellence.
* Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safeguarding, and governance requirements.
Leadership
* Provide clinical leadership within the elective gynaecology service.
* Support and mentor junior medical staff where appropriate.
* Contribute to education, training, and knowledge sharing activities.
* Assist with the ongoing development of elective services.
Person Specification
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
* Specialist registration in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (or within six months of CCT).
* Extensive experience in elective gynaecology practice.
* Proven competency in laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopy, and Mirena coil procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong commitment to patient‑centred care and quality improvement.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
* Experience within independent healthcare or high‑volume elective services.
* Advanced laparoscopic accreditation.
* Previous locum consultant experience.
* Experience contributing to service redesign and development projects.
