ATTRACTIVE ENHANCEMENT PAY FOR WEEKEND WORK
37.5 hours per week (Monday to Sunday 6.00am - 2.00pm or 11.00am-7.00pm)
The Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an expert surgical Trust, specialising in Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Burns.
The main purpose of the job is to provide assistance to the Head Chef and Assistant Chef and support the smooth running of the Main and Ward Kitchens. To prepare meals for patients, staff and visitors. Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in line with HACCP. Complete all compliance documentation daily. Assist in maintaining a 5-Star Food Safety Hygiene Rating.
Working as part of the Catering Team, you will work diligently to uphold high standards of cleanliness and customer service. Experience in a similar role is desirable, but enthusiasm and teamwork are equally important.

Main duties of the job
1. Prepare and cook food meeting quality and value standards within current legislation (HACCP).
2. Ensure proper storage of all food items, including stock rotation and temperature control.
3. Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas, following departmental procedures.
4. Ensure due diligence in all work procedures, including temperature control, personal hygiene, and HACCP documentation. Assist with Environmental Health Officer audits to demonstrate compliance.
5. Handle food preparation and distribution for patients, staff, and visitors according to expected standards.
6. Address queries and complaints from patients, staff, and visitors, escalating to the Head Chef or Assistant Chef as necessary.
7. Display moderate effort during short periods when moving and handling catering equipment.
8. Comply with the Safety Management System when operating machinery and report health and safety issues to the Head of Facilities.

Qualifications (Essential): Food Safety Hygiene Level 2 & QCF Level 3
Desirable: Food Safety & Hygiene Level 3

Skills (Essential): Ability to prioritize and organize kitchen work
Desirable: Stock management and ordering skills
