A relief full-time opportunity exists for a Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Crisis Response Clinician | RCMP Liaison to join the welcoming Mental Health & Substance Use team at the Nelson Health Centre in Nelson, B.C. This relief position is until August 28, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent.
Interior Health and partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages, ensuring inclusivity across all cultures, genders, and backgrounds.
Who are we looking for?
Seeking a self-directed candidate with counselling experience, group facilitation skills, and knowledge in Mental Health & Substance Use, including concurrent disorders. The candidate should have an understanding of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of clients, families, and communities, with particular knowledge of Indigenous communities and resources in the Kootenay areas.

What will you work on?
This role involves mental health liaison work with the RCMP and Nelson Police Department, functioning as part of the Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) team. The clinician provides mobile crisis intervention, mental health assessments, suicide intervention, short-term treatment planning, case management, and rapid response to clients with serious mental health or substance use issues.
The position is at an advanced practice level, utilizing various treatment modalities for individuals, groups, and families, with shifts from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.
