A well-established UK and European road freight operator is continuing to invest in its groupage capability and is now looking to appoint an experienced Road Freight Groupage Manager to lead a small but expanding team in Pontefract.
This is a key operational role for a groupage specialist who enjoys building structure, improving efficiency, and taking ownership of a developing department. You'll be central to shaping processes, supporting growth, and ensuring consistently high service levels.
The Role
Lead and develop a small road freight groupage team
Oversee daily planning and execution of groupage movements across UK and European lanes
Manage consolidation, routing, and capacity to ensure cost-effective operations
Act as the primary escalation point for service, operational, and customer issues
Build strong working relationships with hauliers, partners, and overseas agents
Implement procedures and best practices to support departmental growth
Monitor operational performance, costs, and service KPIs
Work closely with senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
The Ideal Candidate
Solid background in road freight groupage operations
Experience supervising or managing a small operational team
Strong knowledge of groupage planning, consolidation, and European road networks
Confident handling operational challenges and competing priorities
Commercially aware with a practical, solutions-led mindset
