Role
They are looking to appoint a Midday Supervisory Assistant who is self-motivated, with a calm and friendly manner, enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking and able to work with initiative and flexibility to join their school team.
Duties include setting up and cleaning away the dining hall, supervising children in the dining hall and ensuring the wellbeing of children during lunchtimes. Also adherence with school procedures while in the dining hall. Previous experience preferred but not essential as training will be given.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise children in all areas of the school, including the dining room, play areas and classrooms as directed by the Headteacher to ensure safety and good behaviour.
* Supervise the children during meals to maintain a positive atmosphere.
* Encourage good eating habits and assist younger children where necessary.
* Maintain good order to ensure school standards are adhered to.
* Assist in the dining area (e.g., wipe up spillages) to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
* Supervise movement of children to and from the dining room to ensure safety and wellbeing.
* Set up and clear away tables and chairs in the dining room.
* Support children in their play.
* Follow school procedures for dealing with poor behaviour or friendship difficulties.
* Inform the class teacher of significant lunchtime issues and record them in relevant files or forms for particular children.
* Refer safeguarding concerns to the designated person or alternate.
* Deal with first aid on the playground or, if needed, in the medical room and complete the written records for the class teacher and office.
* Undertake other similar activities within the grade and scope of the post as directed by the Headteacher.
Skills and Qualifications
* The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods; awareness of the impact of your communication on others.
* Able to maintain positive relationships and work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to adapt methods and routines to benefit the team.
* Ability to multi-task and work under pressure; flexible and resilient in managing daily responsibilities.
* Strong planning and organisational skills; willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions.
* Ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges.
Qualifications
* A minimum of a grade C/4, or equivalent, in English and Maths GCSE (all roles except cleaners, catering staff and exam invigilators).
