Workforce Training Program Manager (On Campus)

Department: Business and Training Center

Location: Manchester Community College

Pay Range: $60584.96 - $71302.05 Per Year

Appointment Type: Covered Full-Time - Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time, on-campus, Monday through Friday

SCOPE OF WORK: To direct outreach strategies, cultivate relationships with business and industry, identify training needs, guide curricula, coordinate course delivery and all program activities for non-credit trades programs at Manchester Community College (MCC). The position reports to the MCC Workforce Development Director.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Coordinates non-credit professional development courses and customized training programs across multiple industries/trades, for example manufacturing, construction/carpentry, HVAC, welding, automotive, or IT, among others that may be identified.
* Develops, implements, and evaluates curricula in accordance with standards set forth by business and industry partners, accrediting or professional agencies, maintains and updates course/program documents.
* Assists the WDC Director in forecasting programs and program budget.
* Works collaboratively with industry partners, state, and local funding sources, both the credit and non-credit faculty, staff, and businesses.
* Manages course scheduling, recruitment, and onboarding of students into the programs, and assists the WDC Director in recruiting instructors for programs.
* Builds tailored syllabi and schedules, if needed, for open enrollments, customized training, and employer apprenticeship programs.
* Builds out Canvas courses if required or dictated by course delivery.
* Collects and maintains required paperwork, if necessary, on every student as dictated by the admission process detailed for each program.
* Participates in and supports marketing strategies, cultivating relationships with business and industry, and engaging in outreach to educational partners.
* Performs administrative operations of the program including the selection, monitoring, and evaluation of career exploration activities, if applicable. Collaborates with business leaders to provide guidance to supervisors, establish schedules, and monitors daily progress as needed.
* Supervises contracted instructors, student learning activities, monitors academic and employability skills progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments.
* Researches and recommends additional curricula, course delivery, and program activities to support workforce training in the trades.
* Obtains educator credential approvals, if required; prepares and maintains necessary records.
* Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in business, engineering, education, training and development, human resources management, or related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Four (4) years’ experience as a teacher, corporate/business trainer, or instructional designer for adult education or professional development programs with responsibility for program implementation, direct service delivery, planning or program evaluation.

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of trades industries, such as manufacturing, HVAC, welding, automotive, or IT. Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness and manage resources. Knowledge of adult learning styles and various training and teaching modalities. Ability to conduct needs assessment and apply effective training solutions. Capability to use MS Office Suite applications. Excellent communication and public relation skills.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to write technical information. Ability to understand and interpret the functional interrelationship of policy, regulations, and procedures and to evaluate the impact on programs, service delivery, clients and staff. Ability to detect and define problem areas and causes and to create and develop effective solutions, including the exercise of sound judgment in evaluating situations, planning action, making decisions, and setting priorities. Ability to work independently to develop new or alternative approaches to meet changing and variable conditions. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
