Wastewater Design Engineer (Contract) Rate: £300 per day Location: UK (Hybrid/Remote options depending on candidate) Contract: Ongoing Start: ASAP A leading Tier 1 utilities contractor is seeking an experienced Wastewater Design Engineer to support major infrastructure programmes. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-performing team delivering critical water & wastewater projects across the UK. We are looking for a design-trained engineer with a strong background working on wastewater treatment, networks, or infrastructure schemes ideally with experience from the major water frameworks (e.g., Thames Water, Severn Trent, Anglian Water, United Utilities, Yorkshire Water) or similar top-tier utility environments. You will play a key technical role reviewing, challenging, and refining design packages before final submission to client partners, ensuring quality, compliance, and constructability. Key Responsibilities Review and assess wastewater design packages for accuracy, safety, and compliance Identify design clashes, risks, and opportunities for optimisation Provide technical engineering input to ensure buildability and cost-effectiveness Liaise closely with internal engineering teams and external design consultants Ensure all documentation meets standards before final submission Support continuous improvement in design processes and quality assurance Requirements Minimum 5 years experience in wastewater design within major utilities projects Experience working with or for Tier 1 water companies (e.g., Thames Water etc.) Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment, networks, pumps, civils or MEICA elements Engineering-trained with hands-on design background (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Water Engineering preferred) Ability to review, correct, and refine designs prior to client submission Strong communication skills and attention to technical detail Why Apply?
