We are seeking an experienced SEN Support Assistant to work with pupils who have visual impairments, including those who use Braille or other specialist access methods. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting pupils with sensory needs to make a meaningful impact in education.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with visual impairments
2. Assisting pupils in accessing curriculum content using Braille, large print, or assistive technology
3. Supporting mobility, orientation, and independence skills
4. Collaborating with teachers, VI specialists, and therapists to implement individual learning plans
5. Promoting social, emotional, and academic development in an inclusive environment
Requirements:
* Experience supporting pupils with visual impairments in school, specialist provision, or care settings
* Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, or other visual impairment strategies
* Full DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, during school hours
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
* Full UK driving license
* Background in teaching, care work, or related fields
* Psychology, education, or sensory impairment specialization
