Job Overview
We are looking for a Band 2 Rehabilitation Assistant to join our In Patient Therapy Service. You will work alongside Therapists and support staff to deliver acute hospital based interventions for patients receiving therapy interventions.
Our team works across all of the Acute and Trauma Orthopaedic wards and across the front end services including A&E and the assessment wards.
Responsibilities
You must be willing to take part in therapy based competencies and have experience working in a health/social care setting.
This role will involve working as part of a team and supporting activities that ensure the development of the team and the wider service.
We operate a 7‑day working system which requires participation in a weekend roster and flexible work to cover late shifts until 6 pm on a rota basis.
* Implementing treatment to protocols, and based on competencies.
* Monitoring progress and feeding back to the registered practitioner or assistant practitioner.
* Assisting registered practitioners with complex treatment.
* May involve provision of basic equipment, based on set protocols or as requested by a registered practitioner.
* May include leading and assisting with group exercise and advice sessions.
* Act within the limits of your competence and authority i.e. work to competencies & local protocols and understand local communication networks. This includes making judgments around what may or may not be significant changes in a patient’s condition, involving observation and engagement skills and whether or not to report to a registered practitioner. This may involve recognition and appropriate response to emergency situations and outcomes from tests.
Qualifications
You must be willing to work flexibly and contribute to late cover working until 6 pm on a rota basis. You should have experience working in a health/social care setting and be able to take part in therapy based competencies.
Additional Information
The post holder will undertake skilled support work with patients who have suffered an illness or injury resulting in temporary or permanent disability. The work will be carried out within the hospital setting but may also require visits to the patient’s home prior to discharge.
