Overview
McLaren Racing is dedicated to evolving the sporting world through cutting‑edge technology. The Simulation & Simulator team plays a pivotal role in delivering on‑track performance and future car development.
Purpose of the Role
 * Lead and contribute to the Simulation & Simulator team’s efforts to improve vehicle simulation and modelling capabilities.
 * Exploit simulation and modelling knowledge to enhance overall performance on track.
 * Enhance the driver‑in‑the‑loop simulator and use it to improve on‑track performance.
 * Contribute to future car development through the deployment of jokers and future homologations.
Accountabilities
 * Deliver improved on‑track performance through greater simulation contributions to car development, setup and operation.
 * Ensure continuous improvements in simulation, modelling and simulator capabilities.
 * Identify and develop relationships with internal and external partners to accelerate the plan.
 * Manage activities in the Simulation & Simulator team for race support, development of the car and simulation capabilities.
 * Manage activities in the Driver‑in‑the‑loop simulator located at the MTC.
 * Motivate and develop a strong team of engineers.
 * Recruit and maintain the team as required.
Role Dimensions
 * The Simulation & Simulator team sits alongside Vehicle Performance, Control Systems and Race Strategy within the WEC Technical Department.
 * The role drives the development and exploitation of simulation, modelling and simulator knowledge to optimise vehicle performance.
 * The role collaborates with the WEC Technical Department and external organisations.
 * Working during race weekends, extended hours and unsocial travel to race and test events are required.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 * MEng or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Maths, Physics or related discipline.
 * Extensive knowledge of racing car vehicle dynamics.
 * Significant experience in vehicle modelling, lap simulation, tyre modelling and drive‑in‑the‑loop simulators.
 * Proven technical leadership and people management skills.
 * Proven ability to deliver highly technical programmes on time.
 * Proven ability to deliver real‑world on‑track performance.
Desirable
 * Previous exposure to top‑level motorsport (F1, FE, WEC etc.)

 * Commitment to leading and developing engineers.
 * Strong communication skills to influence audiences at all levels.
 * Desire for continuous improvement in performance, analysis and execution.
