Role Overview
This role is non‑remunerated with reasonable expenses being reimbursed.
Dimensions of Role
UK Coaching is the lead agency for the coaching of physical activity and sport. This role is an addition to the board supporting the strategic direction of the organisation.
Key Areas of Responsibility
* Provide strategic leadership, insight and guidance into how UK Coaching can support coaches to deliver excellent experiences.
* Support and challenge the Executive team who have responsibility for day‑to‑day delivery.
Knowledge Required
* Ability to provide strategic oversight of fundraising activities and support the Executive in fundraising, ensuring alignment with the long‑term mission and financial sustainability goals.
* Strong knowledge of fundraising through grants, foundations and/or corporate partnerships or sponsorships.
* Passion for coaching and/or sport and physical activity, with an understanding of its central role in developing a happier and healthier nation.
* Using an extensive network, willingness to act as an ambassador and open doors to potential corporate partners.
* Practical experience of serving as a Board member and supporting Executive staff.
* Understanding of sport and physical activity.
* Knowledge of working with partner organisations to achieve a common set of objectives.
Skills Required
* Ability to absorb complex information and provide Board‑level guidance.
* Willingness to contribute positively and be proactive in supporting the organisation to achieve its objectives.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to act as an ambassador for UK Coaching.
* Any additional skills as determined by the Board Skills Matrix.
Time Commitment
* Expected to devote the time necessary for the proper performance of duties, including attendance at Board meetings (approximately 3–6 per annum).
