Overview
This role is for a Machine Build Manager overseeing machine build projects where components are ordered to engineered specifications. You will manage the flow of parts into assembly halls and coordinate the build team to assemble, commission, and test machines while ensuring on-cost and on-time performance.
Projects vary in length from around 12 weeks to about a year. Machines are designed for extreme conditions, requiring thorough and rigorous testing. Your role is to ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
On the shop floor you’ll work with a team that has deep experience. You provide strategic guidance across the production process, with the ERP system helping keep everyone accountable.
Your task is to set up and ensure all parts of the business communicate effectively so the right part lands in the right place, at the right time, with the right person.
Responsibilities
* Forecasting labour costs
* Driving continuous improvement through methods like 5S
* Coordinating assembly
* Ensuring machines are built on time and to budget, as far as the assembly function is concerned
* Ensuring everything is where it needs to be when it needs to be there
* Directing a new apprenticeship programme, with two new apprentices joining the team
Benefits
