Quantinuum are hiring a junior research software engineer to work on compilation of fault-tolerant quantum software for the next generation of quantum computers.
Quantum software relies on quantum error correction to work. However, quantum software engineers don’t want to think about error correction: they want the compiler to do it for them. So we’re upgrading our TKET compiler to do this, and we’re looking for help.
As part of our Cambridge-based compiler team, you will contribute to our quantum compilation toolchain, focusing on learning and implementing fault-tolerant protocols in the compiler. You’ll stay informed about the latest research on quantum error correction codes, fault-tolerant circuit design, and quantum compilation methods. You’ll be supported and work with scientists and engineers from across Quantinuum to integrate our expertise into high-quality software for our team and customers.
If you are excited by the possibilities of quantum computing and want to turn those possibilities into realities, then this might be the job for you!
Need to have:
* Experience in software development, ideally in Rust or Python, and willingness to learn new programming languages.
* Ability to work independently, understand technical and advanced research material, and translate new ideas into code.
* Ability to present and discuss new research ideas collaboratively.
* A master's degree in Physics, Maths, or Computer Science with quantum knowledge.
Nice to have:
* Knowledge of quantum computing, especially quantum error correction.
* Experience with compilers or programming language design/implementation.
What is in it for you?
Work alongside a talented team with leading names in quantum computing. We offer a competitive package, equity, 28 days of paid holiday (plus public holidays), a workplace pension, flexible working, and enhanced parental and adoption benefits.
