Payroll Officer Location: Borough Green, Kent Join HH, a leader in the construction industry! We're looking for a talented Payroll Officer to be fundamental in our Finance department. The main purpose of the role is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role is permanent, full time, Monday to Friday 09:00am – 17:00pm. Key Responsibilities: * Support the management of payroll from both an administrative and technical perspective. * Perform payroll duties in a timely and accurate manner. * Record and calculate payroll transactions, including deductions, special payments, and taxes. * Prepare and post all payroll journals and finance information. * Handle the issuance of employee payments via bank transfer. * Calculate salary changes, overtime payments, and holiday pay. * Administer benefits (e.g., cars, pension, private health). * Maintain and develop the payroll system and processes, ensuring the integrity of the data on the payroll system. * Communicate with HMRC for technical payroll enquiries and compliance issues. * Oversee pension schemes, including auto-enrolment processes. * Perform payroll reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy. * Take responsibility for payroll-related projects and initiatives. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and ensure compliance. * Compile and prepare tax year-end calculations, ensuring all necessary documents (P11D, P60, etc.) are efficiently calculated and submitted to HMRC within appropriate timescales. * Record Class 1A National Insurance, ensuring accurate calculation and payment within deadlines. * Produce management information reports. * Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and internal policies, including tax laws and labour regulations. * Committed to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices. * Ensure internal controls are carried out to maintain good financial governance. About You: * Higher education qualification is required (e.g. HND, HNC, NVQ, A-level or equivalent) * Demonstrable experience in a standalone payroll role, with payroll processing experience * Knowledge of payroll laws and legislation, including those set by HMRC * Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications * Strong numerical and analytical skills * High level of accuracy and attention to detail * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines * Highly proficient in spoken and written English We offer a competitive Salary, discretionary company bonus, 25 days holiday per year, Group Pension Plan with an employer contribution of 4-7.5%, Employee Assistance Programme, Group Life Insurance, Savings and discounts for everyday shopping.
